Mikata High School Courses

General Information

Mikata High School is made up of General Education Courses (students who intend to continue studying at a private or public university after graduation), and specialty courses of home economics/computer and cooking. We have three tracks of general education courses, one home economics/computer track and one cooking track. Students who participate in our specialty courses can go on to a two year study program or go directly into the work force.

General Courses:

There are three levels of general study at Mikata High School. These courses are intended to prepare the students for further study in National or Private Universities. In order to help students prepare for entrance exams, these courses focus on the subjects in which the students will be tested on during their third year of study. These students have intensive courses and extra study sessions in math, science, Japanese, English and history.

Home Economics and Computer Courses:

This track focuses on life science and computer courses. It prepares students for life after high school as a student at a two year technical school or for the work force. The courses of focus in this track are bookkeeping, computer graphics, fashion design, home information processing, topic research and business manners.

Cooking Courses:

This track focuses on food preparation, nutrition, hygiene and the basic technical skills of cooking. Students are taught to cultivate rich sensitivity to the food related industry and the development of food culture as licensed cooks upon the completion of this course.
