Mikata High School

- Research, correspondence with Peace Corps: Now-April 8th
- Team teaching lessons, working with JRC to make posters and informing the school: April 8th-April 23rd
- Collection of school supplies: April 29th-Map 28th
- Send items: June 4th
- Wait for reply!
How?
The JRC, Tsuji-sensei and Sami will work together to inform the school of this service project. We will make maps, posters, etc, to hang up around school and put in homeroom boxes to inform each homeroom. (Maybe we can announce the project at the morning teachers meeting so that everyone knows what is going on.)
During the first few weeks of the semester, Sami's oral communication lessons will be focused on Mali, Africa (if it is ok with the ESL teacher) in order to raise the students awareness of the situation in Mali.
We will then challenge the students to collect school supplies in each homeroom. Each homeroom's volunteer student can be in charge of the "hope box"; decorating it, keeping track of its contents, etc. We will also have a "hope box" in the teacher's room for teacher contributions. The students will also be asking teachers for financial contributions to help pay for shipping! THE ENTIRE SCHOOL MUST WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS PROJECT SUCCESSFUL!
What will we need?
Boxes for each homeroom to collect items (paper boxes from the copy room?)
Students and faculty members who are willing to help and contribute!
Student volunteers from each classroom to mediate the 'hope box'
Paper, markers, etc. to make posters and flyers to hang in the school
What kind of items should we collect?
The items we collect do not have to be brand new. They can be extra supplies that you have at home or things that you have, but never use.
