Chorus Club Mikata has a Chorus Club. The Chorus Club preforms at many concerts and ceremonies at Mikata.
There are 27 members in the Chorus club at Mikata highschool. All of the members and teachers are women. There are 9 eleventh grade students and 17 tenth grade students. We practice everyday Monday through Saturday. We practice about three hours everyday. It's hard, but we enjoy singing.
Members of our club are very friendly. We always have smiles on our face. We can feel free to talk with any member. Of course, we like singing very much. We sing Japanese traditional songs, Foreign songs, and contemporary songs.
The contents of our practice are mainly doing vocal exercises, memorizing each of our parts such as soprano, mezzo-soprano, or alto, and singing all of the parts in chorus.
First, we do vocal exercises. It takes about 20 minutes. If we didn't do it, we couldn't makes good sound, so it is very important and essential.
Second, we memorize our parts. We separate according to our parts, and the leader of each part gives us the sound with a piano. We sing according to the piano's sound.
Finally, we sing in chorus. We don't just sing, but also, while we sing, we think about the lyrics and imagine the background of the songs. We reflect on the song again and agin in order to make a more beautiful harmony.
We take part in the chorus contest which is held in the summer every year. Last year, we won first prize. We are practicing so hard that we will win first prize this year, too. In addition, we hold our own concert and take part in some festivals.
We try to be a chorus club, which is loved by the community.
