Graduation

In Japan, school has three terms which start in April and end in March. So we graduate in March. Graduation ceremony is one of the biggest events in school. In elementary and junior high school, there are rehearsals many times. In high school, there are no rehearsals except the day before.

Graduation ceremony begins with the entrance of graduates and ends with the exit of them. It takes about two hours. There are various things during it. For example, a speech by the principal for the graduates, singing the school song by all students, and presentation of memorial.

First, there is the presentation of diplomas class by class. Then, the members of the chorus club and brass band club perform background music. It is very beautiful. After that, there is a farewell speech made by a student on behalf of the students remaining in school. Then there is a speech made in reply by a delegate from the graduating students.

Graduates feel thanks to many people afresh in this ceremony and the remaining students also feel thanks to them afresh. THerefore Graduation Ceremony is an important closing event.
