School Trip

In December of every year Second-year Mikata High School students go on a school trip. In 2005 the students went to Okinawa. Two students wrote about their experience in Okinawa.

We took a school trip to Okinawa when we were eleventh grade students. We went to Okinawa in November or December. We stayed there for four days. School trip is one of the biggest events of our school. Students plan for the trip before they go to Okinawa. They plan where they will go or how they will enjoy Okinawa. All the students looked forward to going to Okinawa.

I will talk about last year's school trip. The first day, we took a plane to go to Okinawa. After we arrived, we first went to "Shurijo." It is a famous castle. In the evening we heard about the war in Okinawa from a woman who experienced the war. We were able to know about how scary and sad the war was. We learned many things from the story.

The second day, we spent most of the day thinking about peace. We visited some places where we can know about the war.

The third day, we could go wehereever we wanted in Okinawa. We had planned many things for this day. I enjoyed playing in the sea, shopping, and eating with friends.

The last day, we made "Kurozato." It is a kind of sugar. I ate a lot of it. It was very delicious. I had a very good time. We enjoyed Okinawa all four days. I'll never forget our school trip.

We went to Okinawa for our school trip. We stayed for 4 days there. Okinawa is warmer than Fukui, where we live. We went there in November and December. Fukui is called "Snow Country" by Japanese people. So we felt it was very warm in Okinawa. As we went there, we wore long-sleeve shirts and jackets, but because Okinawa is warmer we changed to T-shirts.

In Okinawa, we studied about war andpeace. We listened to a lecture that a woman actually experienced during the war. It was a very awful and sad story. We also harvested sugar cane, and we made drinks and sugar from them. It became our precious experience.

The most impressive thing was Taxy Indection. It is that each group can go to wherever they want to go. My group went to an aquarium, a pineapple park and a few other places. I enjoyed all the places we went.

Last years class went to Hokkaido. So our class went to Okinawa as our school trip. It was a big success.
